Usage of Rubber waterstop: There are two normal types of waterstop: internal waterstops (A range) that are laid inside the concrete elements, and external waterstops (AA range) on the surface or periphery of the structures (bottom of formwork). These two types are used to waterproof concrete construction joints that are subjected to pressurised water. The AA waterstop is used on the faces to the ground where it is much easier to be laid. Waterstops can be welded to each other on site using a hot knife, but this can also be done in the factory where the conditions are strictly controlled. Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop Hydrophilic rubber water-stop was granted a patent by China Patent Office back in 1996 under the patent certificate No. ZL 95229321.8. Since the Hydrophilic rubber water-stop utilizes hydrophilic rubber along its waterproofing line, expansion occurs when coming in contact with water, adding to the tightness between the Rubber waterstop strip and the civil structure, thus, improving its waterproofing and fastening bandping capability, solving the traditional problem of water leak around the fastening bandping line, with numerous setbacks of traditional Rubber waterstop strips being avoided. Characteristics of Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop 1. The waterproof wire of Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop is made of hydrophilic rubber, which expands when getting in touch with water, thus, allowing the Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop to come into closer contact with the concrete, creating a better fastening band result. 2. Unequal-thickness of Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop structure is adopted for the cross section, which is divided into three areas, namely the high-strength area, the waterproof area and the installation area, allowing for uniform and reasonable stress for all portions. 3. Outer wall of the expansion hole is flat, allowing for a larger contact face for mould plate to clamp on firmly; installation hole is added in the installation area, allowing for easy fastening with the neighboring reinforcement bars without any displacement. In this manner, it allows for easy installation and reliable positioning of the Hydrophilic Rubber waterstop. 4. Perfect jointing between the galvanized steel plate and the concrete produces a better waterproofing performance (one of the features of Type HPA-B).
